Hi I’m Kate! A friendly, sociable and an easy-going soul, that loves meeting and training new people, encouraging and supporting them to be more active and lead a healthy lifestyle.
I qualified as a personal trainer in 2016, after taking the decision to leave my 9-5 desk job behind. I’ve always worked in the sport and fitness industry (in marketing for the most part) and encouraging people to be active has always been a passion of mine. Currently, I work as a PT and group fitness instructor, and have vast experience of working with clients of all ages and experience levels, each with different goals and needs.
However, I haven’t always exercised myself… I’ve had my fair share of blips and slips! I was a competitive club swimmer in my younger years and trained up to 5 times a week. I was fit as a fiddle and didn’t give a second thought about the food I shovelled in my face, I ate what I liked and burnt it off no problem. I had a fitness blip/slip during college and Uni, like most, where socialising and alcohol/partying became my priority over exercise. I piled on weight and that was the start of years of yo-yoing in weight, size and shape. I had an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise, with all or nothing extremes. I tried countless fad diets and detoxes, and was never happy with my body, until I hit my 30’s. Believe me, I have well and truly ridden that binging rollercoaster… I now respect my body and want to look after it… exercising to age well (strong!) and feel good physically and mentally are my motivators. That’s what I try to help others see and do too…
I love weight / strength training, and I’m a big fan of training with kettlebells; an awesome piece of kit for strength and cardio combined. I also love getting out in the great outdoors, walking and heading off on coastal adventures, which is so good for the soul. I’m a big advocate of adopting a holistic approach to improving health and well-being. Looking after your well-being is so much more than just exercising. I love Reiki (anyone who meets me will hear me talk about the benefits of this healing therapy within 5 minutes!). It’s benefited me so much, that I have completed the Level 1 & 2 Reiki practitioner qualification and now offer this as a holistic healing service too. I’m all for, and open to many complimentary therapies.
As a trainer, I’m friendly, encouraging and supportive. My aim is to help you achieve your health and fitness goals, whatever they may be. Making changes to your lifestyle, health and fitness is a process that we will work through one milestone at a time. I’ll devise tailored, progressive workouts in-line with your experience level and ability, and advise on nutrition, health and well-being if that is support you are looking for. My aim is to make your workouts fun and enjoyable; I guarantee that you’ll always finish on an endorphin high, with a big smile on your face!
