Kate Brooks – Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor – specialising in Pre & Post Natal Exercise and Strength & Balance Exercise for Older Adults.
Hi I’m Kate! A friendly, sociable and an easy-going soul, that loves meeting and training with new people, encouraging them to be more active and lead a healthy lifestyle.
I qualified as a level 3 Personal Trainer in 2016, after taking the decision to leave my 9am-5pm desk job in marketing behind to focus on fitness full-time. I’ve always worked in the sport and fitness industry, and encouraging and supporting more people to be active has always been a passion of mine. Currently, I work as a PT and group fitness instructor at a number of gyms, as well as working for myself, and have vast experience of working with clients of all ages and experience levels, each with different goals and needs. Tailoring programmes and sessions to meet their individual needs.
I was a competitive club swimmer in my younger years and trained up to 5 times a week. I was fit as a fiddle and didn’t give a second thought about the food I shovelled in my face, I ate what I liked and burnt it off no problem. I had a fitness blip/slip during college and Uni, like most, where socialising and alcohol became my priority over exercise. I piled on weight and that was the start of a few years of yo-yo’ing in weight, size and shape. I had an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise, with all or nothing extremes. I tried countless fad diets and detoxes, believing there really was a pill or juice drink to magically make me ‘thin’, and was never happy with my body. I got back on track when I left University and reignited my passion for exercise and the gym. Exercising to FEEL good being my main motivator!
Exercise I enjoy includes, functional and weight training, circuit and HIIT training. I’m a massive fan of training with kettlebells, an awesome piece of kit for strength and cardio combined. I also love getting out in the great outdoors; walking, cycling and going for the occasional run. Taking part in challenge events and group classes (more so for the social, and that’s what I love about teaching group classes too!). Mixing things up and trying new things keeps training fresh and fun! 🙂
As a trainer, I’m friendly, encouraging and supportive. It’s my job to help you set and achieve your health and fitness goals, whatever they may be. Making changes to your lifestyle, health and fitness is a process that we will work through one milestone at a time. I’ll devise tailored, progressive exercise programmes and workouts in line with your experience level and ability, and advise on nutrition, health and well-being. My aim is to make your workouts fun and enjoyable, to design programmes that fit in with your lifestyle however hectic it may be. I guarantee that you’ll always finish on an endorphin high, with a big smile on your face – once you’ve got your breath back! 😉
