Ruth Brooks – Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor
Hi! I’m Ruth, an outgoing, bubbly mum to two crazy boys, Alfie and Samuel, and wife to equally crazy husband, Will. My married name is Wild, Wild by name, Wild family by nature! My passion is health and fitness, I love to meet and train new people, and help them achieve their fitness goals, to lead a happy, healthy and balanced lifestyle.
I’ve worked in the sport and leisure industry since leaving school. I started as a lifeguard and swimming teacher, working on children’s sports camps throughout the summer months, and have worked my way up the ranks, carrying out pretty much every job there is to do within a leisure centre setting, including centre management. I’m also a qualified trainer and assessor, which allows me to deliver first aid and lifeguard courses, so I’m often training the staff within the leisure centres too – Jack of all trades! 😉
After having my boys, I decided I wanted to focus on fitness and qualified as a level 2 gym instructor and level 3 personal trainer. I’m currently working as an instructor and personal trainer helping clients achieve their fitness goals, devising and delivering sessions tailored to their needs. Along the way I’ve gained further qualifications, including kettlebell instruction and exercise referral, which enables me to specialise in training clients with a variety of conditions, such as diabetes, respiratory issues and arthritis as well as stress, anxiety and mental health conditions.
I personally enjoy functional and weight training, circuit style training, kettlebells and running. I love running and have completed a few half marathons, I’m yet to do a full marathon! One of my goals in the future.
I’m outnumbered by boys in my house and there’s rarely a moments peace. I’m always on the go and understand how hard it can be to fit exercise in for busy working mums, I know and feel your pain. My boys do every activity under the sun, I spend my evenings and weekends stood on a wet football pitch or sat on a poolside watching swimming lessons, even having a moment to yourself to go to the loo can be a struggle! I understand how hard it is to find time to focus on yourself and get that bit of exercise in, and I’m here to help. No matter how hectic your lifestyle is, I will help you build exercise in to your routine with what time you have. I’m passionate, friendly and enthusiastic and can’t wait to help you achieve your goals and help you on your fitness journey.
